Fazeelat Aslam is a documentary film producer, freelance journalist and human rights activist currently based in Pakistan. She graduated in 2007 from Wellesley College with a degree in Media Studies and Gender studies, after which returned to her home country after living abroad for almost two decades to pursue a career in journalism. At the age of 22 she became a news anchor for a national news channel in Pakistan, after which she began to work behind the camera as producer. She was has worked on several independent documentaries for international organizations such as PBS Frontline, Channel 4 UK, and The New York Times Online. In the past few years, her pieces have garnered honors including The Alfred I. Dupont Award and the 2010 International Emmy for the documentary “Children of the Taliban”. She also works with non-profits and volunteer organizations for disaster relief as well as issues surrounding women and children.
